The atmosphere out here in Beijing is amazing. The village is awesome, apartments all really nice and Team GB has kitted them out to make us feel at home. I am sharing a flat with the rest of my team and have been lucky enough to get my own room. The boys artistic squad are just across the hall from us as are our coaches and the fencing team. Unfortunately we didn't make it to the opening ceremony due to the fact our competition was on the Sunday morning so wouldn't be ideal walking around so much and getting back that late. The coaches went on our behalf and throughly enjoyed it. Even though we have now finished competing we are getting to stay out here to attend the closing ceremony, which in Athens was a fantastic experience. Until yesterday I have been pretty busy so unfortunatey haven't seen much of the sites of China. I went to the Great Wall yesterday, the views are fantastic and we were really lucky that it was a clear day but it was very busy and really hot so didn't last very long up there. I am taking part in the gymnastics gala today, which is basically just a display with most medallist and a few others that are invited including myself.

The atmosphere in Beijing is just as I thought it would be - out of this world! The Olympic Games is special for so many reasons but the main reason is because of the people who take part in it. Rafael Nadal, Kobe Bryant & LeBron James are just some of the sports stars stood in a line at the dining hall, its incredible. In the pool the GB team has is going through the highs and the lows that the Olympics brings, but one thing is clear we are doing it as a unit and as a team, when some one doesn't get the result they strived for then the team is there to pick them up and when the result comes off we all celebrate with pride. Go GB!!!

Watching Michael Phelps doing his thing is inspiring and more to the point he's putting swimming out there to be talked about...and that exactly what the sport needs.

The Olympic Village is the best village I have been in so far. It's clean, full of extemely helpful volunteers and it is absolutely HUGE!!! The accomodation in Team GB is very comfortable, we have sofas in all of the flats, DVD players, live feed TV and the much needed 'bean bag' for crashig out after a day at the pool - nice! I am in a room with Liam Tancock and we share the flat with James Kirton. The Village has its very own transport system of electric buses and they run all day and all night. The food in the dining hall is nice and the Team GB athletes are easy to spot as we all wear the same colour t-shirt on a daily rotation!

I didn't go to the opening ceremony as I was in my room watching it on the box. My first event was the 100m Breaststroke on session one, day one and that was the folloing day after the opening ceremony...so it was an early night for me. I will be going to the closing ceremony and judging by the noise of the fire works from the opening ceremony I think we're in for a fantastic show!!!

I haven't seen any sights this trip as of yet as I still have the Medley Relay swim to do on Friday (15 August), but I do hope to get to see some of the sights of China, it's an amazing place and I've been fortunate enough to have visited it several times...I love the 'Great Wall', its hard take in the scale of it, I'm looking forward to going back again.

Thanks Chris, good luck for the rest of the Games
