Biography
From a young age Mark realised that sport was an ideal platform to show that his disability did not stop him from achieving. From that moment on Mark has dedicated his life to sport. Mark has two fingers on each hand and is a double below knee amputee. Mark went through mainstream education and represented his school in Hockey. He also joined in all the sports on offer. Since then Mark has continued to play many sports and has numerous coaching qualifications that run alongside his achievements.
Mark now plays Wheelchair Basketball and is currently part of the British Wheelchair Basketball Squad and is currently training to be selected for the Senior Team for London.
Mark plays club basketball for the Wolverhampton Rhinos Super League and National League Division 1 Teams. He also plays in Europe and is ranked as the best team in the Country.
He classified as a 1 point player which means Mark has the most severe level of disability on court.
Giving back to sport
Mark is currently working full time with Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent County Sports Partnership as the Disability Sport & Physical Activity Officer. The role is responsible for developing opportunities, supporting development and raising the awareness of disability sport & activity for disabled children within Staffordshire.
Mark has also been offering his services for motivational guest speaking within school and groups such as Playground To podium for the last couple of years and has provided inspiration for numerous children and adults.
